Under the guidance of higher education reform, faculty development as the effective means for guaranteeing the quality of education and promoting the all-round development of faculty is receiving more and more attention. In the1960s, American colleges and universities have gained extensive experience to promote the faculty development by establishing faculty development agencies, carrying out projects and activities, which the Centre for teaching and learning is becoming the promotion mechanism of higher education teaching reform in the United States. Domestically, in2011, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education documents, the university Center for teaching development have been established as a specialized agency to promote the faculty teaching ability, although we have the experiences of University teachers’training and College teaching and research section, the international sense Center for Teaching Development is still in infancy. Obviously there is still a considerable gap between China and American in the construction of the Faculty Teaching Development Center. This research aimed at through system and in-depth research for organization development and features of the Faculty Teaching Development Center in China and US University, further thinking about how suit measures to local conditions of planning and constructing Faculty Teaching Development Center of domestic university. Thereby makes it real became the innovation mechanism for university faculty academic development and teaching capacity upgrade, and achieved university faculty teaching development more normalization and institutionalizationThe article is divided into five chapters, the first chapter is an introduction, mainly describe the source of the problem, define the relevant concepts, study of dynamic in faculty development agencies at home and abroad, and the significance and methods of this study. The second chapter is the study on American Faculty Teaching Development Center, this part has done a general overall view about the establishment background and history of American Faculty Development Center, specific analysis its organization mechanisms, work content, service object and center performance, and finally through case studies on Leaning and Teaching Research center of Michigan University and McGraw Leaning and Teaching Research Center of Princeton University, summarizes the characteristics of American Faculty Development. The third chapter has made a general study on Chinese Faculty Teaching Development Center, corresponding to the second chapter, it respectively introduce the establishment and development, organizational mechanisms center, work content, service objects, and center performance of Chinese Faculty Teaching Development Center, and finally through case studies on Teachers Excellence Center of Jiang Nan University and Center for Faculty Development of Beijing Institute of Technology, preliminary analysis the characteristics of China Faculty Development. Chapter IV compared the Faculty Teaching Development Center of American University Teachers to Chinese from international comparative analysis. This part compares Sino-US status and characteristics of the Faculty Teaching Development Center between the USA and Chinese deeply from Macroscopic to microscopic, whose Dimensions are Concept development and evolution、Formulation and implementation of policies、Construction and development of institutional mechanisms、Practice and Specialty Center. The fifth chapter summarizes the previous sections and reflects the strength and challenge the current development of China-US University Faculty Teaching Development Center. It discards the dross and select the essential based on the advantages of the two countries to promote the development and construction of China Faculty Teaching Development Center from spreading development ideas of faculty development, improving academic system, locating center functions reasonably, launching diversification and personalization activity expanding sources of funding etc.
