Student assessment of teaching is an important part of teaching evaluation system, with the teachers’ self-evaluation, mutual and expert review can constitute a complete evaluation system to promote the development of teachers’ teaching. Teaching evaluation has always been the hot spot of the education field, but relatively few studies of student evaluation of teaching. At present, the domestic for the study of student evaluation of teaching, usually from the following two aspects:introduced foreign experience; or introduced the current situation and promotion of the student evaluation of teaching. Teaching in both theory and practice have been great changes, it also brings the diversification of student evaluation of teaching. However, the single form of evaluation, the compulsory way and students’ subjective factors, they all make student assessment of teaching less useful. And it loses the function of Leading, supervision and promote for higher education.The center of this research is to break the rigid status of student assessment of teaching, to promote its value function. First of all, this paper introduces and summaries the full knowledge of student assessment of teaching at home and abroad for later research. Then, Y University as a case study of student assessment of teaching, from the tripartite main body:organizer, teachers and students, this paper concretely introduces the whole program, system arrangement and the contestant’s feedback, further discover problems to analyze problems, and to explore the reason. Second, St. Francis Xavier University in Canada as a reference object, using literature method, comparative study method and other methods, focuses on the student assessment of teaching. At the same time, in full knowledge of China and Canada’s University student assessment of teaching, and combining the information acquisition and data analysis, they all broaden the breadth and depth of this research, and provide the research with two aspects of strong support to enrich the research framework and content. Finally, on the basis of comparative analysis, this research provides China’s development and improvement of student assessment of teaching with available information and feasibility suggestions by absorbing the excellent foreign experience, and in combination with characteristics of localization in China. This article indicates the China’s College student assessment of teaching as the research and analysis.The significance of this paper is to break through the current rigidity of student assessment of teaching, and put people-oriented, developmental evaluation, circulation management concept into it. Can not only enrich our education teaching evaluation theory, but also provide guidance for the practice, then to meet the needs of the new situation.
