Today, learning Chinese has swept the world, and more and more popular, this is also true in the United States. In domestic, person who will learn Chinese as a second language are adult, but in the United States, the Chinese learning trend showing a younger age. Many kindergartens and primary schools have opened Chinese language courses, and very seriously. However, the study of children learning Chinese is not very extensive, and systems.It needs to be further enriched and improved. On the other hand, foreign language learning vocabulary occupies a very important position, the basic language of communication can not be completed without vocabulary, especially for the young child learners, basic Chinese vocabulary learning become the main content in Chinese learning.The main thesis is divided into four sections, the first part mainly describes the contents of Chinese teaching and learning basic vocabulary, firstly espress the basic Chinese vocabulary and basic English vocabulary and the composition of the basic features simply, and compare the two. Secondly, according to the characteristics of basic vocabulary of Chinese, to determine the content of teaching basic Chinese vocabulary words from Chinese language teaching purposes and curricula as well as two aspects.The second part discussed the characteristics of American children’s vocabulary learning, first of all to describe the characteristics of American children in learning native language, it selected the experiment of the relation between American children’s cognitive style and Chinese vocabulary learning to analysis the main characteristics in learning Chinese. In addition, other factors that affect the American children to learn Chinese words were analyzed, including personal factors, environmental factors and linguistic factors.The third part mainly describes teaching in America and basic Chinese vocabulary learning, including the basic principles and methods. And on teaching Chinese vocabulary experiments carried out, mainly in terms of the different teaching methods. Experiments show that immersion classroom teaching pedagogy and total physical response are more in line with the American children’s characteristics and cognitive developmentThe fourth part is based on the results of experiments about American children learning basic Chinese vocabulary and analysis of factors affecting American children learning, summarizes the relevant teaching inspiration and hope in the Chinese vocabulary teaching can improve children’s motivation in learning basic Chinese vocabulary and enhance their learning effectiveness and enrich the media in learning Chinese vocabulary...
