Objective: This study compares the BMI layered detection rateof native young man and woman in the Tibet Autonomous Region. To study theinfluence on physical function and physical fitness index based on their BMI, and toanalyze the relativity between BMI with physical function and fitness index. Methods: The research is targeted at3206young people at the age of19~44ofTibetan nationality in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Testing index: The body shapeindex include Height (cm), Weight (kg). The physical function index include vitalcapacity (ml), systolic pressure (mmHg), diastolic pressure (mmHg) and heart rate(times/min). The physical fitness index include choice reaction time(s), set and reach(cm), grip strength (kg) and eye-closed and single-legged standing (s). Derive index:BMI (kg/m2), the index of vital capacity, pulse pressure (mmHg) and the index ofgrip strength. BMI is divided into four grades: underweight, normal, overweight andobesity. Statistics method include: Descriptive Statistics, Explore, Histogram,Pearson χ2, One-Way ANOVA and Partial Correlations. Results: The average BMIindex of native youth in the Tibet Autonomous Region is22.96±3.12kg/m2, amongthat the male’s BMI index is23.28±3.21kg/m2, while the female’s BMI index is22.55±2.98kg/m2. Of all3206people enrolled in the study, there are158underweight people,1964normal weight people,869overweight people, and215obesity people. The BMI’s distribution curve represents a thin peak and right endpattern, most people in the study have normal weight standards, but there are still aconsiderable number of overweight and obesity people. The different detection rateof underweight between male and female was statistically insignificant (p>0.05), thedifferent detection rate of the normal group, overweight and obesity group werestatistically significant (p<0.01).The physical function index for male and femaleunder the different layering of BMI are: vital capacity (male p<0.01, female p<0.05),the index of vital capacity (p<0.01), body mass index (p<0.01), step test (p<0.01),systolic pressure (p<0.01), diastolic pressure (p<0.01), pulse pressure (p<0.01) andmale’s heart rate (p<0.05) differences were statistically significant. The differencesof heart rate for female (p>0.05) was statistically insignificant. The vital capacity, systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse pressure for male and female could beincreased due to overweight or obesity, the vital capacity index and step index could be decreased. Underweight or obesity could increase the heart rate of male people. The physical function index for male and female under the different layering of BMIare: choice of reaction time (male p<0.05, female p<0.01), set and reach (p<0.01),grip strength (p<0.01), the index of grip strength (p<0.01) were statisticallysignificant, eye-closed and single-legged standing were statistically insignificant(p>0.05). Overweight or obesity will increase the grip and women’s choice ofreaction time, while men’s choice of reaction time, set and reach, and the index ofgrip strength could be decreased for male and female. Set sex and age as controlvariables, BMI and body constitution index of partial correlation analysis showedthat: vital capacity (p<0.001), systolic pressure (p<0.001), diastolic pressure(p<0.001), pulse pressure (p<0.001) and grip strength (p<0.001) was positivelycorrelated with body mass index; vital capacity (p<0.001), step test (p<0.001),choice reaction time (p<0.001), set and reach (p<0.001) and body mass index(p<0.001) was negatively correlated, so was heart rate (p<0.001) and eye-closed andsingle-legged (p<0.001) index. Conclusion:1.The overweight and obesity detectionrate of native young woman in the Tibet Autonomous Region is lower than men.2.The physical function and fitness index compare with BMI layered among peoplewho enrolled in the study showed that the normal weight group and underweightgroup has the better physical function and fitness index, the overweight group comessecond place while the obesity group has the worst physical function and fitnessindex.3.People who enrolled in the study, their BMI and vital capacity, systolicpressure, diastolic pressure, pulse pressure, grip strength were positively correlated, their BMI was negatively correlated with the index of vital capacity, step test, choiceof reaction time, set and reach and the index of grip strength. Their BMI was notrelated with heart rate, eye-closed and single-legged.4.The study indicated that thepeople whose BMI indexes were exceeded the normal standards, they have a higherrisk of getting high blood pressure. Those who have a normal BMI index have betterfitness.
