Culture is a nation’s blood and home of spirit to the people. Cultural self-confidencewas the sincere emotion of their affirmation to the value of their culture, the strong beliefin the vitality of their culture and the rational attitude towards foreign cultures. Culturalself-confidence is the ideological basis of the development and prosperity of Socialistculture, the prerequisite for building Socialist cultural country with great power, and thenecessary requirement to fulfill the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, namely,“China dream”. Against the background of economic globalization and multiculturalconflict around the world, there is an urgent need for contemporary Chinese collegestudents to establish a high level of cultural confidence, and truly become the back of thegreat rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, namely,“China dream”. However, the currentpart of students’ lack of cultural self-confidence and their acceptance of the Socialist corevalue system is not high. Therefore, the study of present situation and cultivation ofcontemporary college students’ cultural confidence is of both great theoretical significanceand practical significance for carrying out and implementing the spirit of18th CPCNational Congress and The Third Plenary Session of the eighteen, promoting collegestudents to have more identity to Socialist core value system and constructing Socialistcultural country with great power.This thesis is divided into three chapters apart from the introduction and conclusion.Chapter one is the overview of contemporary college students’ self-cultural confidence. Itfirstly describes the procedure and certainty proposed of the cultural confidence; Secondly,it gives the definition of the concept of culture, self-confidence, cultural self-confidenceand cultural self-confidence of college students; Finally, it discusses the inherentrequirement and importance of college students’ cultural confidence. Chapter two is theinvestigation and analysis of current situation of lack of self-confidence of contemporarycollege students. It firstly conducts an empirical investigation of students in University ofSouth China from different grades, professions and family backgrounds. Secondly, itanalyzes the positive performance and the prominent problems of the culturalself-confidence of contemporary college students according to the results of the investigation. Finally, it analyzes the causes of contemporary college students’ lack ofcultural self-confidence from the perspective of society, schools, families, and studentsthemselves. Chapter three is the basic countermeasures of cultivating contemporary collegestudents’ cultural self-confidence, including constructing the goal of college students’cultural self-confidence, determining the principles of training college students’ culturalself-confidence and promoting the approach of college students’ cultural self-confidence.There are several innovations of this thesis. It describes the concept and connotationof contemporary college students’ cultural self-confidence, investigates the currentsituation of lack of self-confidence of contemporary college students, discusses the causesof contemporary college students’ lack of cultural self-confidence and putting forward thegoal, principles and approach of contemporary college students’ cultural self-confidence.
