Shandong province is known as the hometown of martial arts. The problem of an uneven distribution of the kinds of boxing martial arts in Shandong province manifests that the west of the Shandong province has more than the east.The west area (Liaocheng, Heze) is located in the Yellow River on both sides. Under the influence of the Yellow River culture, Qilu culture, combined with the thought, the west area has formed the regional culture characteristics. Until today, there are obvious gaps between the development of today’s traditional martial arts and glorious past.Many problems have hindered the development of traditional martial arts. This paper aims to do some research on the development status of western Shandong province and the problem existed in it. And then make conclusion and suggestions, hoping to build a moral norm and behavioral rules to the traditional martial arts in western Shandong area, and laid the foundation for the theoretical system of martial arts. At the same time, it also has important practical significance on carrying forward the western Shandong regional traditional culture.This paper focuses on the development traditional martial arts as well as the inheritance in western Shandong province (Liaocheng, He ze).It includes literature data, questionnaires, interviews, statistics, logic analysis and so on. On the basis of previous related arrangement, carry on the investigation and analysis on college students in western Shandong and the martial arts to find out the principal contradiction and obstacles. What’s more, propose some specific proposals on these problems Provide some new ideas and theoretical basis on the development and inheritance of traditional martial art, so as to promote the development of traditional martial arts in the western Shandong.Conclusions:1) Under the leadership of the government and relevant organization, traditional martial arts in the west of the Shandong area got certain development. Because the transmission mechanism is conservative, practicing traditional martial arts of the percentage of the population is still relatively small.2) The government and sports management organization pay insufficient attention to the traditional martial arts, and media propaganda is not enough.3) The match organization and management mechanism of Martial arts as well as the method need to be improved. Martial arts competition should involve more traditional kinds of martial arts. Game method also can’t be just routine exercise, so there should be the trinity of capability, prepared and routines match4) The traditional martial arts in colleges of the west Shandong area lack of development. Most of the martial arts teaching in colleges just include the primary boxing, the primary sword and simplified Tai chi. The traditional martial arts carry out less.5) The traditional martial arts the lack of systematic teaching and scientific training methods. Due to the conservative traditional model, a lot of the masters just teach through oral language without written language. There is no scientific system of teaching materials.6) The impact of foreign sports culture to the traditional martial arts culture. Taekwondo caused great impact on the traditional martial arts culture. Long training period is not suitable for the traditional martial arts promotion. What people need is a simple and practical, short training period of traditional martial arts.Suggestions:1)The government and relevant departments should actively promote the development of the traditional martial arts. Reduce the low period of grade martial arts evaluation conditions. The school should organize students to accept assessment in time. Strengthen the traditional martial arts inheritance, and truly learn the traditional martial arts to inherit Chinese traditional culture, rather than learning the traditional martial arts to fitness. Expand the percentage of the population learning traditional martial arts.2) The government and the sports management organization should pay more attention to the traditional martial arts. Strengthen the propaganda media projects to the traditional martial arts, promoting martial arts style mode.3) Improve the traditional martial arts competition management mechanism. The traditional martial arts culture should reform competition method, mining, elaborate event. Establish a scientific system of management, to form a more scientific development model. Use traditional martial arts competition to build a platform, make improvement on the traditional martial art heritage and development.4) Reform school martial arts class model, the traditional martial arts should be involved in the physical education curriculum. Strengthen the construction of school martial arts teachers and gradually achieve the martial arts class teaching content by transferring to the traditional "competitive". Increase research funding, and promote the traditional martial arts theory system.5) Government departments give all aspects of supports, and deepen the mining work of traditional martial arts, meanwhile write the traditional martial arts teaching materials; Traditional martial arts communicators to break the traditional inheritance mechanism, using scientific means of teaching.6) Traditional martial arts in face of foreign sports culture shocking, should take the essence to the dregs; on the basis of preserving traditional culture and innovation of traditional martial arts, adapt to the modern society and people’s requirement for the traditional martial arts.
