Changzhou Area The Development Status Of The Traditional Martial Arts And Countermeasures

Cangzhou,one of the most prestigious hometowns of wushu in China with an extraordinary glorious history,has made great contributions to the development of Chinese wushu.However,the contemporary development of Cangzhou's traditional wushu has encountered serious predicament and fallen into a decline in comparison with its resplendence in the past.Cangzhou's traditional wushu holds the commonness of the traditional wushu nationwide and more importantly,the problems it has confronted in its development are more conspicuous and representative.Therefore, the research on Cangzhou's traditional wushu not only provides directive significance for the development of Cangzhou's traditional wushu,but also can be perfectly used as reference for the development of traditional wushu in other regions.This article aims at carrying out researches on the facts and difficulties Cangzhou's traditional wushu faces in its contemporary development in the modern society from three major perspectives of the status quo and existent problems of Cangzhou's traditional wushu,the social environment for development and the impact from foreign cultures.The article uses literature search,surveys by questionnaire,interviews with experts,statistical analyzing and etc.as its research methods.The investigation takes wushu professionals in Cangzhou who are regularly engaged in practicing wushu as samples of the professional group and university students in Cangzhou as samples of the non-professional group,and obtains conclusions through statistical analyzing as follows:(1) The absolute majority of both contemporary university students and wushu professionals think that traditional wushu is the precious cultural inheritance and the quintessence of our country. Cangzhou,as one of the origins and famous hometown of wushu,is widely recognized by wushu enthusiasts.(2) Cangzhou's traditional wushu is not as significant as it was before,with less and less people learning and inheriting it.Cangzhou's traditional wushu is confronted with the embarrassment of being lost and lack of inheritors.(3) Over 30%of the people being investigated in both professional and non-professional groups figure out that the feudal and conservative consciousness has seriously restricted the self-development of traditional wushu.(4) Cangzhou's traditional wushu has still not introduced the modern teaching and learning as well as spreading equipments,methods and theories,which has badly restricted the wide-spread of Cangzhou's traditional wushu.(5) The lack of support from government and mass media is the biggest obstacle which has restricted the development of Cangzhou's traditional wushu.(6) Foreign cultures such as Tae Kwon Do and Karate have brought tremendous impact to the development of traditional wushu.Aimed at the result of the research,this article brings forward suggestions as follows:(1) Cangzhou should make full use of its advantages as a hometown of wushu and strengthen its publicity for traditional wushu.(2) Only when the wushu masters throw over the feudal and conservative consciousness can traditional wushu be better inherited in such circumstance where traditional wushu is confronted with absent treatment. (3)For the sake of its new development Cangzhou's traditional wushu has to learn from its failures and use the successful experience of Tae Kwon Do and Karate for reference and form its own unique new teaching and learning mode.(4)At present,Cangzhou's traditional wushu suffers from absence of scientific modern teaching materials and training methods and also weakness of scientific research strength.(5)Cangzhou's traditional wushu needs support from government and governing sports department.
