The National Southwest Associated University, referred to as Lianda University, which was set up in Kunming Yunnan that merger of the National Peking University, National Tsinghua University and the Private Nankai University during the war of resistance against Japan. As a temporary university which there are only eight years, Lianda University is not restricted by time and limitations of the history, and cultivated lots of professionals in all areas, also played an important and fundamental function role at the development of Chinese society, and the short but glorious existence has become an imitated legend that never be copy and emulate.On the basis of inherited that in common of the spirit of democracy, freedom rigorous and realistic style by Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University, that was known as the best three universities in China. In the harsh environment of war and under external pressure, Lianda University had to excluded all difficulties and seek common ground while reserving differences. Adhere to the soul of the University.When the KMT government has required some specialized personnel training for war that command and guidelines, Instead, their leaders and professors of the university has decided as the generalists personality as the true goal of the University, the temporary university which are thought to carry the fate of China’s higher education who has implement liberal education.Obviously, although The National Southwest Associated University cannot be copied, but the spirit and the mode of education of it can provide some useful inspiration and reference to the development of today’s higher education. Especially through the successful implementation of general education, it can not have some common sense with the general education in today’s higher education. That is really worthy to study deeply. With these questions, the author took more than a year, checked and analysis of those relevant historical materials that compose this article. This section describes The Southwest United University general education significance of the foundation, which leads to the nowadays university general education and enlightenment.
