The independent institute is a significant outcome of higher education system reform and innovation in China. It makes a positive contribution to developing the independent institute education and popularizing the higher education. The independent institute has played an important part in alleviating the shortage of educational resources since1999. On the one hand, however, owing to the influence of the college-running modes, teacher preparations, students characteristics and management styles, constructing styles of study in independent institute become particularly prominent. On the other hand, the study style is directly related to the prospect of the development of both independent institute and China’s higher education. Therefore, the problem of the style of study should continue to be researched and settled.Under the situation of the process of the popularizing higher education and the reform in education, this article aims at studying of the school tradition construction. It researches the concept of study style construction and the construction of study style. Having made extensive research work, theoretically, it analyses the current situation of the construction of the study style with several specific cases. It not only presents the major and distinct problem, existing in independent institute, which is different from other regular undergraduate institutes, but also analyses the primary causes that affect the study style construction. This essay mainly probes the two issues: one is how to take a step forward strengthening the revolution of education system and the policy supports; the other is how to reinforce the reform and administration of the independent institute itself. By improving structural reform, institutional building and management means, by enhancing the style of study construction of China’s higher education, the independent institute, which is part of the private higher education, will cultivate more applied talents of higher quality, and have a more promising future.
