Yunnan province is a place where a variety of ethnic minorities live in. allcompatriots of every ethnic minority has their own particular ethnic culture. Based onthe geographical distribution characteristics of living in large and small groups ofeach ethnic minority, there are distinctive differences between different minoritygroups and regions. As for the novice teachers who come to the area inhabited byethnic minority, conduct their daily life and vocational activities in specific culturesof region and ethnic culture. It is a process from a familiar mother culture to anotherdifferent culture. According to the classification of ethnic minority and hugepopulation of Yunnan province, diversified, abundant ethnic cultures and regionalcultural differences, this thesis takes a research on seven novice teachers who work inan ethnic rural primary school in Yunnan province as example.This thesis mainly adopts case study and uses the method of qualitative study toanalyze teachers’ situations of cross-cultural adaptation. It consists of four chapters.The first chapter mainly states the study from the following aspects: the reasons,purpose and significance, existing related reference research, definition and researchmethods of core concepts, research process and design; the second chapter makes anoverall introduction on the basic information of typical case, and then to analyze theadaptation situation of novice individual teacher by means of the representation ofindividual teacher study from the following aspects: language, diet, custom, belief,teaching jobs of school education and interpersonal communication; the third chaptersummarizes the factors that affect novice teachers’cross-cultural adaptation in ethnicminority region based on their individual story analysis of cross-cultural adaptation,and finally draws a conclusion that language, diet, custom, belief of folk culture,teaching jobs of school education, interpersonal communication and individualdifferences of novice teachers all have its or his own influences on novice teachers’cross-cultural adaptation to varying degrees. Among them, the influences of folkculture and teaching jobs of school education on the novice teachers wear off andeven vanish after a period of time. Interpersonal communication has the most profound influences on the novice teachers’cross-cultural adaptation. The fourthchapter makes a research on the conclusions and the writer’s some enlightenmentsbased on the study.
