Chemical information science is a new subject, which covers chemistry-relatedinformation and technology. Chemical software, as an important part of chemicalinformation science, has been gradually used in the course of chemistry teaching insenior middle school to improve the efficiency of teaching and learning guided by thenew concept of chemical course. This paper mainly focuses on the advance on theapplication of chemical software to chemistry teaching and learning, and on thepreliminary practical research on the chemical software in senior middle school.A theoretical analysis is made on the relationship between the course reform andthe chemical information science and on the application of chemical software ofchemistry teaching in senior middle school. Guided by the theory of metacognition,constructivism and humanism learning, we selected three kinds of chemical softwareincluding “Chemical payment arrangement”,“ACD/ChemSketch” and “Simulatedchemical laboratory” from three modules such as editing paper, drawing andexperiment simulation to apply in the course of material design, classroom teachingand students’ experiments etc. Its effect was evaluated by means of questionnaire andinterview. The investigation result showed that the application of chemical softwarein the course of teaching can promote the students’ learning interest, thinking abilityand skills, etc.
