In recent years, curriculum revolution in basic education has been continuouslypushed forward, and the theory study about the chemistry course in compulsoryeducation stage is also becoming much better than before.The ability of scientific inquiry is a must for people in the21st century to liveand get employed. One most important aim of the new round curriculum revolution inbasic education is to improve students’ scientific literacy, advocate diversified waysof scientific inquiry, and develop students’ spirit of innovation and their practiceability. Therefore, it becomes urgent to change the former mode of chemicalexperiment. This kind of change can make students explore the experiments activelyinstead of receiving the results passively. So that students can focus on the process ofdoing experiments rather than the results, and these experiments can also becomecomprehensive interest experiments. In this way, students’ comprehensive cognitivemodel can be constructed by developing students’ thinking ability and improving theteaching efficiency.This paper focuses on adjusting experimental mode and observing its teachingeffect by carefully studying the contents of the chemical experiment teaching incompulsory education. Follow-up survey about students graduated from YunnanUniversity Secondary School between2012and2013has been made to find out howto develop students’ ability of comprehensive and scientific inquiry in Grade9, byanalyzing the emphasis and the teaching ways of chemical experiments incompulsory education, using modern educational theory and psychology as a guide.As a result, students’ spirit of dialectical materialism is developed among the threeaspects of knowledge, thinking and scientific learning ways. And a set of ways tocomprehend chemical experiment teaching have been set up.This paper begins with the classical experiments according to students’psychological features. Since the author has been working in Junior Middle School,these results, from comprehending the contents of the experiments to cultivating students’ ability of questioning, from reasonable operation during the experiments tothe evaluation and reflection, are all from practical teaching. After all these studies, aspecific measure about chemical experiment teaching and an exact way aboutimproving students’ ability of scientific inquiry have been finally put forward.
