English learning of the junior middle school students is a focus of researchers andteachers. As an important part of the study of English, factors of English academicachievement should be reasonable concern.Some studies have found motivation andmental toughness have an effect on the English learning.However,few studiesexplore affect of them on it at the some time.Therefore,the study may explore howthey affect the English learning of junior middle school students.The study takes the Mangshi Chengjiao middle school for example from apsychological point of view, taking analysis of the impact factors of Englishacademic achievement by the questionnaire and the experience. This study makes asurvey on minority students’ motivation and mental toughness by questionnaire andanalyzes the relationship between them and English academic achievement.The study gets some results.(1)Gender would affect students’ motivation.(2)Differences between urban and rural areas will affect the students’ motivation andmental toughness.(3) Grades will affect their motivation to learn.(4) Grade willaffect the student’s mental toughness.(5) The motivation is the factor of the Englishacademic achievement.(6) Mental toughness is the factor of the English academicachievement.Based on the findings, the schools and teachers can take some measures to enhancestudents’ academic performance. First, teachers ought to improve students ’Englishlearning motivation. Second, teachers should enhance the students’ mental toughness.Third, schools should pay attention to the level of students ’mental health. Fourth,school ought to play the role of the family in the students’ English learning. Finally,schools ought to pay attention to teachers’ mental health education skills.
