Physicsscientific method educationas one of the three-dimensional targetaboutthe physics educationof high school, has been widespread concernedbyeducatorsafter the new curriculum reform. Based on the physics curriculum, thephysics scientific method and the theories of constructivismthe paper mainlyinvestigates and perform the comparison of the Chinese and American high schoolphysics textbooks in the field of thescientific method. The author choosestwenty-onekinds of common scientific methods in textbook and the five are dividedaccording to the contents in the two sets of textbooks. Based on the research of thetwo textbooks and statistically acquiring quantitative and semi-quantitative dataoriginated about the fivecategories about physics scientificmethods, to qualitativeevaluate the scientific method in the two sets of textbooks.In the analysis process,the authorcomparedand analyzed the wholeconceptdefined method and law usedmethod, and the others are comparedand analyzed one by one from the overall andpartial. Finally it comparedand analyzed Chinese and American textbooks in thefield of the presentation about scientific method.The whole comparison of the twotextbooks is presented as follows:The Chinese physics textbookswith a clear thinking havestrict structure ofdeduction and intensive reasoning logic. Itfocus on logical reasoning and knowledgecontext, but the scientific method division is unbalanced.The applying process aboutphysics scientific method rarely concerned with sensitivity of knowledge-sourceandexperiences of real process. It alsolack of mathematical methods and increase thedifficulty of learning. The presentation about scientific method is combinationmethod of the explicit and implicit, and far from explicating.The American physics textbook with better exploratory isvivid andclose to thedaily life. It focus on inquiry experiment and life experience, but the scientificmethod division is unbalanced.The applying process about physics scientific methodrarely concerned with deductive logic and structured of knowledge.The presentation about scientific method is implicit-based,knowledge aimsgeneral terms, toexplicatethe scientific method is imperative.Throughcomparison and investigation of the physics scientific methods on thetwo sets of the Chinese and American high school physics textbooks,we can acquiresimilarities and differences. It is hopeful to provide some help and reference foranalyzing and researching high school physics textbooks as well as to make amodest means for the development of physics scientific method education.
