Physics is the most important and active leading subject in the whole natural science. Having a good grasp of general physics is the basis of learning other natural sciences and technologies. The reform of physics curriculum is mainly on teaching content which is carried in textbooks.This thesis elaborates the history and the present status of our country's compulsory education physics teaching material reform and the physics education reform in the United States . On this foundation, it carries on a concrete comparison research on the purpose of the physics teaching of the two countries, the contents, experiments of the two series of high school physics textbooks from China and the United Sates, as well as the designs, exercises, illustrations, language styles and science methods implied in the two series. On the basis of analyzing the special features and shortages of the two sets, we put forward some suggestion to improve high school physics textbook.By comparing the two sets of junior high school physical teaching materials, this thesis makes clear the differences between the two sets of physical idea of education and teaching method, explicates the advantage and shortage of our country's junior high school physical teaching material. It helps to promote and deepen the comprehending and understanding the two sets of teaching materials. It contains positive significance to know the differences between the two series of physical teaching materials. It also contains reference value to improve compiling our country's physics teaching material.
