“Where has the time gone?” has become a hot topic in today’s society. As an early childhood educators, we cannot help but ask, “Where has the time of the kindergarten kids gone?” It is clearly stipulated in the Kindergarten Education Guidelines(Trial) that “try to reduce unnecessary collective actions and transition links, to reduce and eliminate the phenomenon of passive waiting.” How are the kids spending the full ten hours or so from7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and whether such a long time has been effectively utilized, and whether the time arrangement and use of each link meet the physical and psychological health and development of the kids are issues worth thinking about. Just as Malaguzzi said, “we can only find the answers from the kids for all what we have done and thought for them”①. Therefore,the researchers decide to do further research in the field.This study mainly adopted qualitative research methods, supplemented by quantitative research methods. By using observational method, interviewing method and textual analysis these three specific research methods, through the overall observation and case observations of various aspects of the kindergarten in one day, and the interviews with teachers, the current status of the time utilization in each link of one-day kindergarten life is shown in macro and micro levels through collections and records. The purpose of the study is to present and analyze the current status of the time utilization in each link of one-day kindergarten life,bring out the problems existed in the time utilization in each link of one-day kindergarten life on the basis of observations and discussions, and put forward corresponding solutions.The results show that the current status of the time utilization in each link of one-day kindergarten life is not optimistic. The timetable is not rational, the time arrangements of teaching activities, games, life activities and transition links all have some problems.Meanwhile, the lack of time consciousness and professionalism of teachers also affects the effective use of the time in each link of one-day kindergarten life. Also the leadership of the kindergarten has not yet paid attention to this phenomenon, and has no strong supervision and management, leading to big problems in the utilization of the time in each link of one-day kindergarten life.Based on the results, for scientific and reasonable arrangements of the time for daily life in the kindergarten, the researchers make the following recommendations: 1. Concept going ahead-- stability combining with flexibility; 2. Follow-up with conducts--- arranging the timetable of the kindergarten scientifically and reasonably; 3. Training strategy--- enhancing the teachers’ professionalism and time consciousness; 4. paying attention to practice---strengthening the supervision and management of time utilization of each link of one-day kindergarten life.
