National identity means the recognition of a country’s citizens about which country they belong to and their cognition, evaluation and emotion about the country’s constitution, such as the politics, culture, ethnic groups and other elements. It refers to the sense of belonging to their country and the emotional sustenance of members of the community. And it works as an important link to maintain the national stability and development. The strategic position and the ethnic and religious status of Qinghai decide the specialty, urgency and significance to improve Qinghai Minority College Students’ national identity awareness. Qinghai Minority College Students are not only the main force to guarantee the future social and economic development in ethnic minority areas, but also the elites in minority groups and the precious human resources in ethnic areas. If they have a high degree of national identity, it will exert an important influence on the economic prosperity, improvement of people’s livelihood, legal governance and social stability in Qinghai area. Therefore, the study of the national identity of Qinghai Minority College Students is of great practical significance.Research on this topic is mainly conducted through empirical investigation and analysis of the current situation of national identity of Qinghai Minority College Students and the influencing factors of national identity, providing intuitive data for the study of national identity of Qinghai minority students so as to explore the strategies to enhance the national identity awareness of Minority Students in Qinghai Province. The research methods used in this study are the combination of literature study and field survey, the unity of historical investigation and logical analysis and the union of macro analysis and micro analysis. According to the results of the data analysis of this study, most Qinghai minority college students have a high degree of national identity, but there are a small number of minority students having cognitive bias towards specific dimension or problem in national identity. And their national identity degree is relatively low. In addition, there exist some obvious problems in the status quo of national identity, for instance, the gap of degree of identity of dimensions in national identity between urban and rural students is too large, and the standard of Putonghua has become a significant factor which constrains the degree of national identity. Based on the actual situation of Qinghai and the results of data analysis of the survey, this study focuses on the influencing factors of the national identity of Minority Students and analyzes the situation from the factors of individual, family, school and nation. And the results of the analysis demonstrate that the specific factors in these four aspects have different influences on the three dimensions of national identity of Qinghai Minority College Students.At last, based on the practical experience of national identity construction both at home and abroad, the status of national identity of Qinghai Minority College Students, the results of the analysis of its influencing factors and the actual situation of Qinghai area, this study puts forwards some strategies to enhance the national identity of Minority Students from the three levels of the state, society and university. On the basis of the fundamental of historical materialism, improving the national identity of minority Qinghai University on the national level should first focus on speeding up the promotion of national and regional socio-economic development, which is the most basic resource of the national identity; second, to accelerate the legalization of regional ethnic autonomy system processes, improve students’ national political trust, enhance students’ political participation; at last, to give more support to minority universities and focus on enhancing the competitiveness of minority students in the field of employment, improve the employment status of minority graduate students; to speed up the expansion of universal education in minority regions, focus on cultivating students’ national consciousness, increase students’ national responsibility. On the social dimension, the community should be made full use in enhancing the education in national identity; and religion should effectively play a positive role in cultivating national identity; the mass media should be used flexibly and play its role in the construction of national identity; other social organizations and educational bases are also important ways to our national identity education. The strategies of universities to enhance minority college students’ national identity should be built on the ideological and political theory courses, which can be serve as the foundation of national identity; to regard Marxism as a guide to develop their sense of national identity; to make practice education as a carrier to enhance their true feelings of national identity; to take full development as the goal to promote its national identity, to effectively develop their sense of national identity.
