Since 18 th CPC National Congress, it has been a major issue for governments at all levels to reform weak schools and better balances the educational development. Weak schools in rural areas are the ‘short board’ for education. The enhancement of the quality of teachers is the key issue to improve rural weak schools. Taking a rural weak school as a sample, we carried out a three-year project to explore the efficient way to enhance the quality of math teachers in midd le schools. This dissertation is the preliminary result of our project. The ‘weakness’ of rural weak schools is due to the long-standing abuse in many ways. As pointed in this dissertation, in order to improve rural middle school and enhance professional s kills of the teachers, it is important to take the teachers as the principle part and respect their psychological characteristics, personality traits, life experiences, sense of purpose et al. Therefore, their inherent vitality and potential can be stimula ted, and the criteria of their life value could be adjusted, which can promote them to develop init iatively and consciously. Teacher professional development is indeed a routine upgrade. To encourage the professional development of teacher, it is necessar y to rely closely on teaching practice, and the route and strategy of development should also be derived from teaching practice. As to mathematics teachers, it is necessary to start from the study of math curriculum, syllabus and textbooks to improve their capability of teaching design and in-class teaching, and to advance them to initiatively explore the way to improve in- class teaching efficiency. It is also necessary to closely work on the main characteristics of the subject to develop the mathematical minds, thinking and problem solving ability of both teachers and students, and work hard on the implementation of curriculum. Teachers’ professional development should be consistent with the growth of students and the development of school, so that a good c ulture of teachers’ development would be generated.
