STS is the acronym of Science, Technology, Society. It’s a new and expanding subject to study the relations among science, technology and s ociety which covers multi-disciplines, multi-fields. The ties among science, technology and society as well as their harmony development are the aspirational goal of modern culture, also viewed as a vanguard ideology of education reform.STS education is a sublimation of normal science teaching which requires higher quality of students and brings better learning results. STS currently remains an experimental phase due to the restraints of old school teaching methods and college entry examination system. Although STS was explored in teaching to some extent, the scope is not wide enough and the outcome is not always encouraging, so this new teaching model needed to be constantly built and improved. As a first tier high school physics teacher, I deeply thi nk that the concerted efforts from educators and people from all walks of life are really required to manifest the STS benefits in student educationBringing STS educational ideology to teaching can enable students to build more complete knowledge system and strengthen what they have learned. It also improves their learning attitude and enhance their learning interests across the board. Students can view problems with higher perspective and deal with practical issues better. Students can have more posit ive attitude towards the science and technology development, become more proactive towards improvement and have more senses of responsibility and mission as well.Based on the STS educational status quo and the social requirement, I managed to streamline and analyze the STS ideology from Shanghai physics teaching materials, and diversified methods to class teaching, meantime wrote some practical teaching assay or dossier for experiments, finally compared the differences and confirmed the positive results of STS education.Although students are not well aware of STS, while learning physics through the STS method substantially improve their interests and abilities of grasping physics knowledge. It was proven that STS is practical and plays a beneficial ro le in student education. I am trying to constantly perfect the STS education methods in view of life long education for students. Of course, it is still a long way to go and there are lots of obstacles ahead such as how to gradually improve the quality of teaching materials, how to alleviate the contradiction of the exam oriented education and quality education, as well as teacher’s self-improvements. etc.
