This thesis takes secondary school teachers as the research object; the emphasis is put on the study of the impact of psychological contract on their work performance, and then puts forward the feasible and operable tactics. With the application of management, statistics, management psychology and related theories, this thesis provides an overview of the related theories on psychological contract and work performance at home and abroad, and designs a questionnaire for full-time teachers in 4 secondary schools in H city through the construction of hypothesis model that a relationship exists between psychological contract and the work performance of secondary school teachers. The study shows that the teacher management problems in public schools are more serious in comparison with that in private schools. However, all the subject schools have poor performance in terms of teacher performance management. Meanwhile, the subject school teachers’ psychological contract situation does not look good, according to the statistical data based on questionnaire, the overall level of their psychological contract is low, so is the recognition degree of psychological contract on the relationship between the teachers and school. This study makes an analysis on the psychological contract and performance management, which shows that the two are in highly positive correlation. Among all the subject schools, the one with higher score in terms of psychological contract receives high mark in respect of performance management; the one with lower scores in terms of psychological contract receives low mark in respect of performance management accordingly. Therefore, this study makes a conclusion that psychological contract does affect the performance management of secondary school teachers, and offers proposals on the improvement of performance management from the perspective of secondary school teachers’ psychological contract, so as to accomplish the goals--strengthening and optimizing the performance management.
