The Tibet Meeting,which was known as Bod-ljong Tshogs-vdu in Tibetan and Xizang Minzong Dahui in Chinese, was one of offical organization in Tibet and was taken part in by the monks, laymen, as well as officials. With the development of form of Tibetan government, the Tibet Meeting was also improved and an powerful system was formed. This paper focuses on the history of the Tibet Meeting and researches some issues. Firstly, the name and conception of the Tibetan Meeting was studied. What’s more, the exact time of its foundation and its features in different phases were analyzed. At last, the functions, historical status and significance were searched.This paper would be divided into four parts.The first chapter is about the origin of the Tibet Meeting and how to devide its history into different phases. The first phase was from 1720 to 1875 and the prototype was formed during this period. The second phase was from 1876 to 1933 and it was developed during this period. The third period was from 1933 to 1951 and during it the Tibetan government was controlled by the regents.The second chapter studies the types and procedures of the Tibet Meeting. The Tibet Meeting can be categorized to three types. A large number of details are presented for its scales, representitives, procedures and conference documents.The third chapter focuses on the functions and historical significance of the Tibet Meeting in Tibetan.The last chapter concludes that the Tibet Meeting was the product of Tibetan feudalism and it adapted to the social environments of Tibet.
