Poetry embodies the profound and diversified traditional Chinese culture, cultivating the character of the Chinese people from one generation to another. Chinese modern poetry is greatly influenced by Western poetry, but at the same time inevitably influenced by traditional Chinese poetry. Modern poetry was elected to middle school language textbook, which means it is accepted by the middle school classroom and recognized as artistic and influential. However, restrained by a variety of factors, poetry in the middle school classroom is always in dispensable awkward position, which should arouse the attention and reflection of our middle school Chinese teachers.Based on the previous achievements, this thesis is intended to make a breakthrou gh and innovate through discussing the value and significance of the topic in the paper In order to make the thesis convincing, it is necessary to research on the current situa tion of teachers’ teaching modern poetry and students’ writing modern poetry. Conduc ting a survey among students and teachers in the form of questionnaire, we can analyz e and reflect on the results of the survey, which helps us to find out the reasons accoun ting for the situation. On top of this, many possible solutions to the present problems a re proposed in the paper. The result of the research suggests that teachers should chan ge their concepts and improve teaching skills, that students need to develop an interest and cultivate their aesthetics and that teaching should attach importance to the langua ge teaching and emphasize the poetry. Only in this way, can we achieve some effectiv e teaching strategies and training methods in teaching practical writing.Modern poetry has an irreplaceable role in improving students’ aesthetic ability developing students’ aesthetic taste, and strengthening students’ ability to understand the language. Only if we teach modern poetry positively and efficiently, can we be influenced by humanities of modern poetry, inspire students to be passionate and creative, allowing students to live a poetic life.
