Senior secondary education has been the key position between compulsory education and university education, which has been an important part of our modern national educational system. However, there are a growing number of low-performing schools due to the imbalanced development of education during the development of society and history. The characteristics of low-performing schools in this essay are as follows:poor school management, low performance of teachers and students, unfavorable quality of teaching, terrible social reputation. The survival and development of school is full of troubles. They have a bad effect on equality education as well as the concept of the sustainable development of each student. As is known, senior secondary education has played an important role in the full development of individuality and improvement of knowledge hierarchy, which is beneficial to the students’ scholastic and occupational planning in their future. The contradiction between the urgent demand for high quality education and the effective supply deficiency of high quality educational resources is becoming aculeate increasingly at the stage of senior high school, hindering the construction of a harmonious society. It’s obvious that effective school improvement should be put on the agenda.The thesis, based on the illustration of the present research at home and abroad, has inspected the development of a low-performing senior high school in the Luhe district of Nanjing from the aspects of environment and school faculty by means of a case study. Besides, the thesis has analyzed its present situation and pointed out the problems and challenges in terms of interview and questionnaire. In the end, the author put forward some constructive and pertinent comments, stressing that school running characteristics from the aspect of disciplinary innovation, as the important process of the reformation of low-performing school, is the essential access to realizing the diversity of senior secondary education.
