Curriculum standards of chemistry in common middle schools (Experimental), which is promulgated by the Ministry of education of the people’s Republic of China, put forwards that, the goal of Chemistry curriculum is to cultivate scientific literacy. As one of the core ideas of the chemical literacy, the subject concept needs badly to be trained in the middle school chemistry teaching. It is particularly important to pay close attention to the construction of the subject concept in students, especially when high school students have pressure and burden from 9 subjects. The construction of chemistry concepts, especially by the use of experimental inquiry teaching, is one of the trends in the research of chemistry teaching in 21st century. In this paper, the author uses the modern teaching theory and constructivist learning theory as the main theoretical basis.explores and summarizes the design of the basic procedure, and teaching strategies by the application of the experimental inquiry teaching to construct students’ chemical ideas. The author also lists some cases where she uses experiments to build students’ subject concept, and she makes an analysis of the effects of the teaching practice. As is shown in the result, experimental inquiry teaching can make chemical ideas more straightforward, vivid, and concrete. It also consists with the high school students’ cognitive level, and is of benefit for the construction of concept system of Chemistry. To construct the students’ chemistry subject concept as the center of chemistry experimental inquiry teaching, we can improve students’ learning subjective initiative, help the students to form good habits, and thus improving the subject literacy.
