As a essential step in the process of teaching, evaluation is one of the best means that teachers can control the teaching process and regulate the teaching behavior. In this paper, from the perspective of evaluation reform, performance evaluation as a current popular way of evaluation, is introduced in the field of biology teaching. And it was studied from two aspects, theory and practice.In this article, the application of performance evaluation in biology teaching will be analyzed from two aspects.The first is feasibility. This article demonstrates that performance evaluation can be applied to the secondary school biology teaching from two aspects, the characteristics of the performance assessment and the unique characteristics of biology.The second is applicational method. This text studied the applicational method of performance evaluation in biology teaching. The four steps of application methods, program objective--learning target--performance task--grading rule are put forward in this article, and it puts into practice in each step.This research suggest that, it is feasible and necessary to utilize the performance evaluation in biology teaching. The teaching evaluation in biology curriculum need to evaluate all kinds of abilities of students at the same time, the disadvantages of traditional evaluation methods are obvious. But the performance evaluation can evaluate multiple abilities simultaneously, and I also can analyze the advantages and disadvantages, to provide scientific guidance for the further development of students.But it still exists some problems in the actual operation process. How to make the priorities among teacher’s evaluation, mutual evaluation in the group or student’s self-assessment? How to guarantee the fairness and justice of performance assessment in its implementary process? These practical problems need to be studied further. I attempt to give some countermeasures and suggestions to these problems.1. We should attach great importance to the subjectivity of students in the course of evaluation, we should advocate self-assessment and self-regulation, then they can get all-round development.2. In the implementation of evaluation, in order to guarantee the fairness and justice of the performance assessment, teachers should guarantee the evaluation standards are unified.To cultivate well-rounded talents is the ultimate aim of education. The introduction of performance assessment can improve the shortcomings of education obviously, and it also can promote the students’ all-round development. So, the application of performance assessment is not only feasible, but also necessary.
