With the application and popularization of information technology in teaching and learning activities, as a new tool of modern education technology-- "interactive whiteboard(IWB)" provides a good environment for classroom interaction, enlivens students’ mood and generates the interest in the mathematics class. It can be used as a screen for computer and physical booth, and also as a platform for teacher-student interaction, human-computer interaction, and resource interaction. Currently, many researchers have carried out abundant research on the whiteboard application in teaching, but there is relatively less research on the whiteboard interactivity. By the application of IWB, what has been changed in actual class interaction? How do we use IWB’s lots of functions to make a better performance of its interactivity feature? In order to solve the above problems and provide a reference for teachers using IWB in maths teaching, this thesis focuses on interactive teaching of mathematics in primary school by using IWB as teaching method.Based on literature review, investigation and specific teaching practice, exploiting the IWB’s functions of mathematics teaching in primary schools, this thesis has designed teaching process of mathematics in primary school assisted by IWB. Analyzing the interactivity of two sample lessons, as well as questionnaires and interviews after class, we can get this consequence that using IWB in teaching of mathematics in primary school has positive meaning in improving interactivity and benefiting teaching activities. The basic structure of the paper is as follows:The first chapter describes the background and significance, by analyzing the current research, proposes specific contents and methods of this research. The second chapter defines the concepts in this study, and provides an overview of the relevant theoretical basis. The third chapter describes the IWB’s functions and application, and proposes two designs in teaching mathematics in primary school. The fourth chapter selects two sample lessons, recording the teaching design and progress, and fully analyzes class interaction. The fifth chapter, through questionnaires and interviews after class, points out in teaching mathematics in primary school IWB’s advantages and problems. The sixth chapter gives conclusions and analyzes deficiency, hoping to provide some references for subsequent work.
