Slow pitch softball inherited the spirit of cooperation, bravery and wisdom of baseball and softball, highlighting the game. It is full of wisdom, skill and variation, stressing the rules and etiquette, and simplifying the complex rules of baseball and softball. This sport is easy for people to learn and master, people of all ages and both sexes can play this sport together.Jiangsu is a big province of economy, culture and education in our country, the slow pitch softball movement has been developed rapidly. The course of it in ordinary university and college is also at the forefront in our country, but the course design, course teaching, hardware and software matching degree have some problems. The slow pitch softball course is in the early stage as a whole.This study firstly gets the list of ordinary universities and colleges who has set up the slow pitch softball course, from the person in charge of Jiangsu Undergraduate Baseball &Softball Association, then extracting ten ordinary universities and colleges from the list, to choose the slow pitch softball teachers and some students who have learnt this course as respondents. I conduct this investigation by the way of mail, email and issuing questionnaires indeed, then adopting mathematical analysis, getting the following conclusions:1. The atmosphere of slow pitch softball course is better in Jiangsu ordinary universities and colleges. Most universities and colleges have established slow pitch softball teams and mass organizations, but the competitions are few;2. The present venues and equipments can ensure the general slow pitch softball teaching in Jiangsu ordinary universities and colleges, but at the same time there are few protective nets and batting cage, equipment aging and insufficient;3. The slow pitch softball is the optional course content opened for the first and second students, belonging to the required course, but the number of students in teaching class is higher, and there are no course for senior students;4. Most slow pitch softball teachers are young male, but the number is insufficient, their scientific research ability is poor, they have less effective instruction opportunities, their professional knowledge and skill need to improve urgently;5. The course teaching has got certain effect, but still existed some problems on the selection of teaching materials, teaching methods, teaching contents and learning evaluation content, failed to give full consideration to the needs of students;6. Many students like slow pitch softball course very much, but their exercise condition after class is not so good, because of the complex competition rules, lack of professional guidance and exist some dangerousness;Suggestions:1. Establish slow pitch softball association, creating official website. This association should be in charge of organizing effective trainings for slow pitch softball teachers, organizing different level competitions and researching teaching material;2. Set up baseball and softball major, in order to solve the shortage of slow pitch softball teachers and the lack of teachers’ expertise;3. Expand investment and remodel venues, teachers need possess the skill of simple equipments maintaining;4. Strengthen the construction of slow pitch softball mass organization, equipped with long-term professional guidance, to make some students own some foundation of slow pitch softball before they choose to take the course learning; further strengthening the construction of slow pitch softball team, establish and improve the system of athlete selection; competition can use the home-and-away system;5. Adjust the student number in the class, and suitably increase the course of slow pitch softball appreciation, it can also establish optional course for the senior students, or establishing club teaching mode;6. The slow pitch softball teachers should focus on material contents research, contacting with the elementary and secondary school T-ball teachers, to maintain consistency of teaching content; the teachers must consider students’ actual need, to choose suitable exercise load teaching contents, and try to use some modern teaching methods; teachers should add the theory content, such as slow pitch softball etiquette; and properly reduce the difficulty of basic tactics of teaching content, pay more attention to students’ individuality development, and advocate the process evaluation; teacher can organize theoretical knowledge contest;7. Further modify the equipment and game rules, in order to meet the needs of the students study and extracurricular exercise.
