In the 21st century, the existant and development of Mankind relies more on ahievements of mans’thoughts than ever. The competition between countries is mainly manifested by the competition of man’s wisdom and intellects. Therefore, fostering thinking ability, especially the critical thinking ability becomes one of the most important objectives of education in every country.The Chinese curriculum criterion of our counrty also has definable requirement for developing students’critical thinking ability.However, this thinking ability can’t be achieved in our current education due to the restrain of our traditional ideations and the realistic national situation.The thesis tries to explicate the values and strategies of developing this critical thinking ability and also undertake a practical research of the methods and ways on basis of refering the previous studies together with the author’s own teaching practices. It is expected that the Chinese knowledge of students’ can be boardened and even their comprehensive quality can be enhanced through elevating students’ critical thinking ability.The whole thesis consists of 4 partsThe first part deals with the definition of critical thinking theortically and the general research situation about critical thinking at home and abroad.The second part first dicusses the interrelation between critical thinking and senior high school Chinese teaching, then investigates the causes throuh analyzing the current status of critical thinking ability cultivation in senior high school Chinese teaching.The third part talks about the strategies of fostering students’critical thinking in senior high school Chinese teaching.Firstly, when teaching reading, students are allowed to doubt the texts. Gradually they will good at doubting the texts.They are taught to analyze and decide, construct after deconstructing and reflect the thinking results.eventually their thinking ability can be strengthened in the process of negation of negation. Secondly, when teaching writing, a diversified writing method is advocated. Stduents are encouraged to open their mind which relate the society directly and their critical thinking ability are expected to enhanced after doing in such a way.The fourth part includes the effect of cultivation and reflection.
