Under the new round of curriculum reform in the world, Britain actively introduced curriculum reform policy, a comprehensive curriculum reform in order to meet the needs of British social development and knowledge economy, as well as the challenges of the new century. The primary language reform was an important part of the comprehensive curriculum reform for its own distinct characteristics in the particular situation and the relatively obvious effectiveness of the reform.This paper sorts out the history of British primary language curriculum reform with the literature analysis and comparative study. Focusing on the curriculum reform in 2000, the paper analyzes the goals, the setting, the implementation, the evaluation and the management of curriculum to summarize the characteristics and the effect of the reform and problems and trends. On the basis of reflecting on the current situation of Chinese primary language curriculum reform, we should learn advanced experiences of British_ primary language curriculum reform. The paper is expected to provide practical references and insights for Chinese primary language curriculum reform and development.The full text is divided into five parts. The first part is an introduction, mainly elaborating the reason and significance of the topic. It summarizes the current research situation at home and abroad of Chinese and British primary language curriculum reform. And it also cites all the research methods used in this paper. The second part explores the history of British primary language curriculum reform from two aspects, the reform factors and specific reforms. The third part introduces the British primary language curriculum reform in the 21st century from ideas, goals, the implementation, the assessment and management of curriculum. The fourth part systematically summarizes the main features of British primary language curriculum reform, analyzing the results and problem of curriculum reform. And it extracts the development of primary language curriculum reform combining the latest trend of curriculum reform. The fifth part interprets the current development of Chinese curriculum reform in elementary school combining with Chinese specific national conditions. And it proposed some enlightenment of the British primary language curriculum reform for Chinese curriculum reform in elementary school.
