In the 21 st century,the rapid development of globalization,knowledge economy and information technology has higher requirements for talents,and in order to make the talents cultivated in China meet the requirements of the ever-changing times,the basic education curriculum reform is in the air at this time,and countries focus their attention on the curriculum reform.For a long time,basic education curriculum reform has been a topic of concern for China's education sector.The Ministry of Education released the "Outline of Basic Education Curriculum Reform(for Trial Implementation)" in 2001,which started the exploration of basic education reform in China in the new century.As one of the senior and influential capitalist countries today,Britain has a relatively complete education system and the effectiveness of education is world-renowned.Studying the issue of basic education reform in Britain and exploring the unique success of its education system has certain significance for China's basic education reform.This paper uses comparative research method,literature research method and historical analysis method to sort out the history,reform characteristics and trends of basic education reform in Britain in the 21 st century,analyze the effectiveness and shortcomings of basic education curriculum reform in Britain,and combine them with the actual situation of basic education reform in China,aiming to provide reference for the problems and dilemmas faced by China in the basic education curriculum reform.This paper consists of an introduction,a text,a conclusion and a reference.The first part focuses on the background of the basic education curriculum reform in the 21 st century in Britain,and introduces it from two aspects: international background and domestic background.The international context mainly includes the wave of global curriculum reform,the impact of rapid development of information technology on curriculum reform,and the pursuit of equity and quality to promote reform;the domestic context of basic education reform in the UK is: reflection on the decline of the quality of education in the country;the role of the ruling party's philosophy in education reform;and the inheritance of the national curriculum reform in the UK.The second part focuses on the status of basic education curriculum reform in the UK in the 21 st century.Firstly,it introduces the overview of education reform of Tony Blair's government,Gordon Brown's government,David Cameron's government,Theresa May,and Boris Johnson respectively.Then,it introduces the changes of the National Curriculum reform in basic education in England in 2000,2008,and 2014.The third part focuses on the characteristics,experiences and trends of the basic education curriculum reform in the UK in the 21 st century.The characteristics and experiences of the British basic education curriculum reform include keeping up with the times in curriculum philosophy,focusing on equity in curriculum implementation,and having greater flexibility in curriculum implementation.The trends in the reform of the British basic education curriculum include the strengthening of values education;the gradual improvement of the quality of basic education;and the focus on uniformity and flexibility of the curriculum.The fourth part focuses on the 21 st century British basic education curriculum reform with strong political overtones and more frequent educational reforms.The fifth part is about the inspiration of the 21 st century British basic education curriculum reform to China.The revelations include the reform taking into account inheritance and innovation,focusing on pluralistic participation in basic education curriculum reform,and paying attention to educational equity.The concluding part reviews the research problems and conclusions of this paper,reflects on the shortcomings of this paper and puts forward the outlook.
