The Application Of Case Teaching

Case teaching is a teaching methods which using mission-driven case, providing questions to discuss as the main form of exchange in order to learn the knowledge, capacity-building as a major objective. " Study of High school chemistry experiment" is a course for Master in Chemical Education and it’s teaching aims is to cultivate the chemical master’s ability of experimental research. We put the case teaching methods in to practice and do some analysis on the feedback.This article mainly consisting of theory research and practice research.In theory part, the paper traces the origin and development of case teaching, review the status of the case teaching abroad. We defined the case using in " Study of High School Chemistry Experiment" course as a case from students, non-structural integrity in words or verbal expression the case on the base of Deep understanding of the substance of the case teaching, content and form, and combining the characteristics of" Study of High School Chemistry Experiment" course of the Case Teaching Methods Case, and demonstrate the basis using case teaching in this course in three areas of the consistency of the teaching aims, practice and evaluation.In practice part, we designed the steps of the case teaching, networked platform, then conducted a complete teaching practice for one semester. we presented specific teaching process by five teaching cases and collected feedback and evaluation of Case teaching by questionnaires and interviews.The study found that Case teaching could stimulate students’ interest in study of chemistry experiment and the students have high recognition on the case teaching. In addition,case teaching could enhance students’ ability of teamwork and communication skills and this curriculum’s objectives have almost completed. Case Teaching in " Study of High School Chemistry Experiment" course can be successfully applied.
