Students learn simple equation firstly, when they start to learn equation. Simple equation is a new starting for students transferring thinking from Arithmetic to Algebra.Both expressing numbers with letters, or finding equivalent relationship, are very abstract to elementary school students. Simple equation is the foundation of learning more algebra knowledge. Although the simple equation has simple form and less types, but it plays an important role in the whole number and algebra. The textbook is the direct embodiment of the concept of curriculum standards, and is the direct Source material to Mathematical Teaching. So textbook has a profound influence on the teaching. This paper tries to research various versions of textbooks, to help teachers to understand the textbooks deeply and to provide reference for effective teaching.This paper consists of 5 chapters. The first chapter introduces the research background, and then puts forward the problem of this paper.The second chapter reviews and analyses the simple equation from the following aspects:The emergence and development of equation in domestic and foreign, changes of the content in the textbook of simple equation, the study of the teaching and learning about simple equation.The third chapter proposes the concept of "pre-equation", and analyses the form、 type、distribution and presentation in the textbook about "pre-equation".The fourth chapter analyses the evolution of solution about the simple equation, combs the presentation of the properties of equation in the textbook, then combs and analyses the processing of each edition of the textbooks about equation solutions based on curriculum standards.Finally, some suggestions on simple equation instruction are given. Equation concept instruction should pay attention to the following two aspects:(1) Combining with the example fully, let students carry on the understanding and analyzing of the concept on equation. (2) Set the rich problem situation, establish the equation model. The instruction of equation solution should focus on the following three aspects:(1) Pay attention to the cohesion of arithmetic method and algebraic method. (2)The solution of the equation process should be gradually. (3) Protect student’s consciousness of "unknown participate in operation" from low grade.
