| Studies on ethnic relations in Xinjiang used to be more concerned about the macro-level observational study, institutional level and at the policy level and lack of observation from the perspective of the private sector research. This paper selects the area of Yanqi Hui Autonomous County,Bayinguoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which is multiethnic-populated as the fieldwork area. With fieldwork as the main method, this paper focuses on the analysis of the study of Bazaar and the observation on the ethnic association in daily life. The paper concluded that the analysis of ethnic relations should focus on the effects of different scenarios on ethnic relations, and the ethnic relations in daily life are multi-faceted.The introduction introduces the main reason of this topic, the circumstances of the fieldwork, the problems to be solved, the results of previous researches, research theory and methods and significance of the topic.The first chapter is about Yanqi’s history and current situation. It introduces the relevant background knowledge of Yanqi,including Yanqi’s diverse natural environment, Yanqi’s important geographical location, historical changes of Yanqi, the overview of Yanqi Hui Autonomous County and the historical background of Yanqi’s population and ethnic groups It also analyzes the meaning of the Yanqi different cultural groups, and the sence of local identity from a historical perspective.Chapter two is about the function of Yanqi oasis and urban space.It analyzes the city’s main function, Yanqi’s developed handicraft, Bazaar’s impact on the Yanqi urban space.The author believes that although Yanqi was reduced from one of the eight Yanqi southern citis as Yanqi Hui Autonomous County, the prosperity of Bazaar oasis and well-developed handicraft did not decline. Yanqi is still an important supporting force of the local communityChapter three is about the ethnic relations of Bazaar trade space.It mainly analyzes the change process of Bazaar, the spatial structure of round Bazaar as well as trade flows in Bazaar space. The paper stratifies Yanqi people and discusses the economic exchanges within this area. The paper concludes that compares with classification according to ethnics,the classification according to goods,which are oasis Bazaar’s local traditions still plays a role in Bazaar.Chapter four is about the communication of ethnics in Bazaar. It analyzes the impacts of three kinds of time on Bazaar, the lives of merchants and customers living in Bazaar, the three relationships within the bazaar as well as the interaction relations of nation, ethnic and local. The paper reveals social and cultural habits of oasis Bazaar, together with local government administration and nation-building impacts on the lives in Bazaar.In the conclusion, the paper concludes the main content of the article,presented the local experience of Yanqi oasis and the point that the ethnic interaction in multiethnic region is multi-faceted. |
