The new round fundamental curriculum reform has changed the indoctrination of education under traditional teaching methods and has promoted the overall development of students in the quality education. Simultaneously, the reform brings up students’practical ability and innovation ability. Therefore, the high school geography teaching should focus on training students to form a flexible mindset and build on the awareness of geographical knowledge.The paper will be divided into the following several parts:Above all, this paper have a brief overview of the high school geographical curriculum reform, discourse the necessity of geographical education reform under the new curriculum reform, discuss the change of curriculum content, course objective, course structure, course evaluation after the new curriculum reform and try to understand the schooling’s emphasis on students’ cognitive structure in the current educational background.Secondly, with the theoretical premise of cognitivism, the article expound the feature of geographical cognitive structure and discuss the factor affecting the development of it. Under the influence of the new course reformation, students’ cognitive structure is growing, students’knowledge increasingly get bigger, their cognitive structure get increasingly stratified and students’ dynamic thinking continue to improve.In addition, based upon the educational internship experience, the author takes the research methods like literature review and questionnaire to investigate the depth and breadth of the liberal art students’ geographical cognitive structure of Ma Chong senior high school in Dongguan, then finds out the development of students’ geographical cognitive structure. Besides, the paper takes the method of case study and the significant differences in the average number of test to try to predict and analyze students’ good cognitive structure achievement, and understand whether the teaching strategy is working to build the students’ cognitive structure.Finally, according to investigating the present situation of students’ geographical cognitive structure, on the basis of the existing perceiving, the author present the strategies of constructing good geographical cognitive structure that:(1) Geographical teachers should further improve their cognitive ability and fully understand the set of human geographical knowledge structure in the existing textbook.(2) In terms of teaching strategies, teachers have better to take the method of heuristic teaching to facilitate the migration of students’ thinking.(3) In learning strategies, teaching should promote students to form a good way of learning and optimize students’ elaboration strategies.(4) During the learning process, students should focus on the reflecting of geographical cognitive structure, discover their cognitive errors promptly and modify the wrong point under the guidance of teachers.Through these construction strategies, the author hope to help students form flexible perceiving and promote the overall development of students during the teaching.
