Since the 1980s, with the rapid progress in technology, all countries around the world have recognized the importance of education to social-economic development. They are making large scaled reforms to elementary education. As the love of the reform, the curriculum reform has been paid attention. Since the beginning of the new century, China has started the eighth reform to the elementary education curriculum system ,in which the geography curriculum is naturally included .Since the issues of global environment, population and resources are threatening our development nowadays so that we have to bring forward the sustainable development , the geography curriculum . reform is especially important. Many countries consider geography education as one of the significant measures to improve people's qualities .Teachers are directly executants of the education, the direct participants and performers of new curriculum standards and thus the key to the curriculum reform . Teachers' quality is a synthesis combining thought, knowledge and ability that are adapted to the modern society and people' s development .Showed in teaching activities, it has direct influences not only to the students' mental and physical development, but also to the teachers' own development.. This paper explores geography teachers' quality structure under the new curriculum reform ideas from the following five aspects:The first part of this paper synthesizes the progress of the previous studies,identifies the significance, the main concepts and methods of this research. Meanwhile I proposed a new study route is on the basis of a comprehensive analysis on domestic and abroad geography teacher's quality, to innovate and analyze the geography teachers' quality of Zhengzhou, Henan Province, and propose the methods of developing reasonable geography teachers' quality.In the second part, the domestic and foreign geography teachers' quality is analyzed. The literature review, questionnaires survey, and the qualitative and quantitative methods are used. This analysis is the foundation for constructing the reasonable geography teachers' quality structure.The third part, a think on the geography teachers under the new curriculum reform background, probes how the geography teachers adapt themselves to the new curriculum standards, including how to choose textbooks, how to use these textbooks, how to implement teaching activities and how to evaluate activities.In the fourth part, I develop a structure model of the curriculum reform geography teachers" quality under the new curriculum reform. The structure model includes noble occupational ethics, advanced education idea, the synthetically scientific and cultural quality, and compound education ability, healthy badly and mental quality.Finally, through the real diagnosis investigation and interview on the geography teachers in ZhengZhou, and taking Yang Huiru,a teacher working in 16th middle school in ZhengZhou, as an example, this paper proposes the reasonable geography teachers quality structure.
