Regional geography, learned at the junior high school stage, later referred to as regional geography (junior high school), is a significant part of high school geography study and also is a vital carrier of the university entrance exam. Regional geography (junior high school) is a deep review and study, based on the end of the three compulsory courses of high school. Compared with its learning at junior high school, its difficulty deepens a lot and content is larger and more miscellaneous. The New Curriculum Standard reflects the teaching status of regional geography. It is imperative to make the teaching reform of regional geography. Because of the limit of class time at senior two, not enough attention at junior high school stage and a long time to forget, there are many problems in the teaching and learning of this part. And it has seriously affected students’Learning interest and learning effect. So the author makes the research on the teaching and learning of regional geography (junior high school).The paper uses the methods of literature method, classroom observation method, questionnaire survey method, statistical analysis method and so on. The main conclusion of the paper is:(1)There are problems in the teaching and learning of regional geography (junior high school). Senior two lack interest of learning regional geography (junior high school). They have not formed the habits of observing geographic phenomena and referring to the map. Their memory way is not scientific and self-efficacy is low. They have great demand for the classroom teaching and teachers’ teaching method. There are many difficulties in reading map, positioning, memorization, comparation and so on. Geography teachers’personality charm, teaching enthusiasm and teaching methods needs to be improved.(2)Improving the quality of teaching of regional geography (junior high school) from different standpoints. Students need to develop interest in learning regional geography (junior high school), enhance learning initiative, form the habits of observing geographic phenomena and improve the ability of geographical observation. Teachers should carry out effective classroom interaction, mobilize the classroom atmosphere, enhance the guidance method of memory, and strengthen the map teaching.(3)The research makes up for a lack of studying teaching and learning of regional geography of middle part from the perspective of high school students. It enriches the research theory of the teaching of regional geography (junior high school). The pertinence and operation of the research is strong. It has clear guidance and use value to regional geography (junior high school) teaching.The research clears the problems in regional geography (junior high school) teaching and puts forward the promotion countermeasures which has instructional functions in teaching practice. It has great reference value to the solution of problems of teaching.
