This paper, taking the NBA basketball league format as the research object, using literature data method, mathematical statistics method, comparison method, specific methods, such as related to the NBA league format:format development history, format characteristics, competition stage and competition forms, geographical distribution, team competition events, schedules intensive carried on the thorough research, and also by the NBA schedule subject to derive the rules system, such as:the NBA draft rules of the contest, players and the referee was analyzed, and concluded the NBA league format system is advanced, and with the CBA basketball league has carried on the comparative analysis of our country, in order to find out the problems existing in the Chinese basketball league format, and put forward the proposal, provide the reference for the relevant parties.The main conclusions of this study are:(1) the NBA system consists of two parts:the system format subject and derived format. System mainly refers to the competition method, derived system including the rules of the contest, players and referees, etc. (2) a stable and healthy social environment and perfect policy system provide guarantee for the development of the NBA schedule, and the professional league is the product of the market, market needs a stable environment and a sound legal protection. (3) the high competitive level is the core of the NBA products that can attract the audience, the product quality plays a decisive role, the core of the NBA schedule is to continuously improve the competitive level of the league. (4) the characteristics of the NBA schedule which is demotioneing run system, "a two stage", and home advantage is obvious. (5) the NBA desire of competition and quality are important regulators of competition, the competition and training closely together, but too intensive competition events also caused an increase in injuries. (6) the NBA strict control of the team’s regional distribution, and promote the healthy development of the league.
