The Application Of Folk Game In The Activities Of Kindergarten In City Village

Folk games refer to games that originate from and spread among the folks in our country, with specific cultural traditions as their foundations. Usually folk games are created by the folks spontaneously, featuring in eminent regional cultures and entertaining functions. They are valuable fortune of cultural legacies of our nation. The elementary principle of kindergarten education is that it takes games as basic activities. The folk games, being a significant section of children’s games, are closely related to the realistic lives of children in agreement with children’s psychological development. The folk games, with their functions of entertainment, simplification and pedagogy, are of great educational values, which could satisfy children’s inclination of playing, moving and imitating, and could promote children’s health, cognition, social and mental development. Involving folk games into activities of kindergarten could not only enrich the contents of children’s games, providing wide space for children’s development, but also enrich the characteristic culture in a kindergarten.This research is based on the preschool education theory, game theory and pedagogy guiding documents. By giving an overview of folk games and their values, this research will present a case study of Kindergarten A, with methodologies of observation, interview, and bibliographies. Under these instructions, this research will then survey a variety of aspects, including teachers’ understanding and attitudes towards folk games, the selection and collection of game resources, the making of game environment, the organization and implementation of games. With consideration of these aspects, this research will thereafter clarify and analyze the current situation of folk games in Kindergarten A, and offer some advice related to its difficulties and defects, in pursuit of offering reference to other kindergartens in urban villages.
