Education, as an important part of a comprehensive national strength, has received growing concern with the continuous improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength. To promote the quality, again and again, basic education curriculum reform has not stopped, and the textbook reform is an important part of the curriculum reform. Based on the comparison between two different compulsory high school geography textbooks that were respectively published in April 2006 and February 2008, we explored the difference between the new textbooks and old textbooks. Furthermore, whether the new high school geography textbooks meet the overall curriculum standards, the teaching goal and the design idea of the course. At the same time, some suggestions are proposed for its problems, providing convenient and feasible help for those geography teachers who are teaching in the classroom.In this text, we combined different research methods with construction theory, we also studied and summarized relevant references. Based on the previous studies, we strive for creative achievement.This paper is composed by the preface of the thesis, comparison between various textbooks written, comparison and analysis of content, the structure of the old and new textbooks and the conclusion. This paper studied whether the new teaching material presents new characteristics, in line with the students’ mental characteristics, followed by the development of society and conformed to the requirements of the times or not. At the same time, according to the interview of Pingliang No.l Middle School in Gansu province and the analysis of the use of new materials, we hope to provide convenient feasible help for those geography teachers who are struggling in classroom.The most obvious features of this issue were summarized as follows:the usage of the new teaching material was analyzed, discussing respectively from the use of teaching materials, diversification of teaching effectiveness and teachers’ professional requirements, confirming the new teaching material’s status from the side, finding that if we want to get good teaching effect, the previous teaching mode must be changed. Thus, the advantages of the new textbook could be exerted to the maximum.By studying the new textbooks, it was found to be in line with the students’ mental characteristics, followed by the development of society and conformed to the requirements of the times, the writing idea was clear, teaching objective was detailed, different section were closely linked, texts and illustrations showed those hot social issue, the logic was strong. The quality of teaching effectiveness was closely related to the proper use of teaching materials. Teachers should strive to improve their overall quality of teachingAfter analysis, we found that the new textbook is closely combined with the curriculum standards, in line with the students’ mental characteristics, followed by the development of society and conformed to the requirements of the times.
