The education of HPS means putting the content of history of science, the philosophy of science and the sociology of science into the curriculum in primary and secondary schools. Many scholars think that is a effective way to improve the scientific literacy of all citizens. The past research shows that putting the appropriate HPS into the curriculum of science is not equal to simply teaching the HPS in the science class. It should be fully penetrated in all aspects of the curriculum. It reflects the educational requirements for HPS and the content of HPS in textbooks for the idea of education. It reflects the design of teaching and the actually teaching in classroom, and the teachers’ literacy of history and philosophy of science may effect the HPS in the curriculum of science.The study as a beginning exploration for putting HPS into the curriculum of the chemistry in high school mainly put the focus on the research of the standard of curriculum and textbooks. By the analysis of these two static texts, the following questions are expected to work out:What kind of content of HPS have put into the current curriculum of chemistry in high school? How to reflect the meaning and educational value of them? What else needs to integrate? What are the similarities and differences in the three versions of the existing chemistry textbooks of high school for the content of HPS, and what are their characteristics? What is the requirement in the standard of curriculum? Are the textbooks consisitent with these requirements? The answer of these questions is a good foundation for science teachers to carry out the education of HPS and understand the textbooks.On the basis of comprehensive analysis of the literature, firstly the research abroad of the HPS by science education is clarified as a theoretical framework for the analysis of the HPS in textbooks. Then combined with the research methods in domestic materials and found the content analysis. The analytical framework and research tools are based on the international survey of TIMSS and the review of domestic and foreign literature. Finally, the quantify statistics and qualitative analysis are advanced from five main categories and 22 sub-categories of HPS. The main categories are the history of chemistry, the nature of the scientific knowledge, the scientific enterprise, the influence of science and technology on society and the influence of society on science and technology.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1) The compulsory modules of three versions of chemistry textbooks in high school are evaluated by four indicators that is quantity, breadth of knowledge, presentation, sub-category, the best presented of HPS in textbooks is Shangdong science and technology press, the better is Jiangsu education press, the last is PEP.(2) Compared with the number of HPS marked, Shangdong science and technology press is up to 70, followed by 45 for jiangsu, and finally PEP is 41. Compared with the proportion of HPS in textbooks, the highest is jiangsu 21.7%, then Shangdong science and technology 20.6%, the last is PEP 16.7%.(3) The presentation of HPS in PEP textbook is mianly by text, followed by illustrations, the least is column. And jiangsu and Shangdong science and technology education’s press is to set the text and columns equipped with illustrations. Compared with the breadth of knowledge, the most is PEP, followed by Shangdong science and technology, at least is jiangsu. But the types of knowledge in jiangsu and Shangdong science and technology include the basic concept, basic theory, materials and their properties and chemical experiments, and PEP miss the basic theory.(4) The HPS in three versions of textbooks are all reflected five main categories. Overall, the content of "the influence of science and technology on society" "the scientific enterprise" "the history of chemistry" are more than "the nature of scientific knowledge" "the influence of society on science and technology"; The 22 sub-categories in three versions of textbook is all incomplete, "science and ethics" "the influence of science and technology on social thinking" "the influence of science and education on science and technology" "the influence of public on science and technology" are not included.(5) The requirement for HPS in standard of chemistry in high school are generally lower levels. The set of the HPS in textbooks mostly can meet the requirement of this part of konwledge, the presentation is mianly text-based, supplemented by illustrations and columns.
