The nature of science has always been an important component of science education and scientific literacy.In the 'General High School Physics Curriculum Standard'(hereinafter referred to as the new curriculum standard)promulgated at the end of 2017,it was clearly proposed for the first time to develop students' understanding of the nature of science.Therefore,it is crucial to incorporate an understanding of the nature of science into the science curriculum.Textbooks are a core resource for science courses.Relevant researches have shown that the representation of the nature of science in textbooks would affect teachers and students' cognition of the nature of science.In order to serve the purpose of improving teachers and students' cognition of the nature of science by the textbooks,two problems need to be solved.First,what aspects of the nature of science should be included in textbooks;Second,how well the textbooks represent these aspects.In order to solve above two problems,this paper combines the nature of science aspects recommended by science educators that should be taught in K-12 science curricula and included in the new curriculum standard to identify the 12 main aspects of the nature of science proposed by Alshamrani as the textbook analysis framework.Then,the content analysis method was used to study a total of six new physics textbooks for the compulsory and optional compulsory modules of the 'General High School Physics Textbook'(hereinafter referred to as the New Physics Textbook)newly compiled by the People's Education Press based on the new curriculum standards in2019.After a detailed study of which aspects of the nature of science are included in the new physics textbook,the frequency of inclusion of various aspects of the nature of science,and the textual location of the nature of science in the textbook,the following conclusions are drawn.First,the new curriculum standard has an impact on the representation of the nature of science in the new physics textbook;Second,the characteristics of the discipline have an impact on the representation of the nature of science in the new physics textbooks;Third,there is no difference in the number of representations of the nature of science in different series of new physics textbooks;Fourth,there are differences in the number of representations of the nature of science in different text positions in the new physics textbooks.
