White language is their first language for children living in Yunnan Bai people’s region. After they reach the school age and enter school, they will have been taught in Chinese. So Chinese is their second language. Until they have been the junior middle school students, bai children would begin contact and formally learn English. Thus English is usually treated as their third language. Contrast to white language and Chinese, English using is very limited among Bai students. Due to English and white language are from different language families, and there are also many significant differences of cultural background and language characteristics, bai language increases the difficulties the junior Bai students have in learning English. Researches from cognitive psychology and psycho-linguistics show that inhibitory control can be the most important cognitive mechanism of language acquisition. Inhibitory control affects the acquirement of basic language elements such as pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence, and acquisition difficulties. Failure of learning of any basic elements above, and accumulation of a certain extent, would affect the whole level of English acquisition or skill level. As three-language-speakers, Bai students’ inhibitory control ability of English acquisition may have their own characteristics, and they may be of quite a great importance in English acquisition. Thus, this study takes the inhibitory control of execution function as the breakthrough point, using the Signal Task, the Go/no-go task experimental paradigm, and Speech Discrimination task to investigate the inhibition of bai junior middle school students’ English speech processing control. Selected the Dali area bai students on grade 2 as the research subjects, and selected a cross cultural comparison research subjects from the region of the han nationality. The results of three experiments shows:(1) compared with the han bilingual, bai three-language-speaker students showed better inhibitory control ability.(2)The demonstration from linguistics study that the English phonemes interfered by white language, not only impair the bai students cognitive processing, but also interfere the learning of English of the han nationality students;(3) To both bai and han groups, their English proficiency level restricts their inhibitory control ability of speech-processing-advantage in English.
