Investigation On The Implementation Of Sunshine Sports Activities In Rural Primary Schools In Haidong Town, Dali City

Health is the foundation of our body. Young students are the backbone of the our future. China’s primary and secondary school students in physical conditions shown a downward trend has aroused widespread concern in the community. "Sunny Sports" is one of the campaigns that raised by our government to improve the physical conditions of students. It has played a huge role in students’ physical and mental health promoting since it officially implemented in the end of 2006. But, in economic less-developed areas, especially areas inhabited by the minority nationalities, Sunny Sports Campaign didn’t implement well because of lack of teacher and experiences and backward perception.This paper take Haidong Town, Dali City as a case, study the Sunny Sports Campaign implement condition of the rural primary school. Using the document method, questionnaire survey method, mathematical statistics and other methods, this paper research the implementation of Sunny Sports activities in rural primary school, and explore the main problems, promote solutions, so as to provide a case study for the sustainability of Sunny Sports in rural areas.The following are the main conclusions of this study:1.Based on the research of Sunny Sports Campaign implement condition in rural primary school of Haidong Town, this study find that all of 13 research objects school have implemented Sunny Sports Campaign, and 66.67% of the school leader, 93.33% of the PE teacher and 88.66% of the students support this campaign, while school leader and PE teachers should open their mind to create colorful, useful physical exercise activities.2.The main problems of the implementation of Sunny Sports Campaign in Haidong Town rural primary school are: the information channel is single; the equipment of field facilities is insufficient; students do a little physical exercise in weekend; the organization, management and institution of Sunny Sports is imperfect; what’s worse, sometimes the PE class is replaced by math or other class. All in all, the organization, management and institution of Sunny Sports is badly in need to be improved.3.Among all of the sports, shuttlecock, badminton and table tennis are rarely used. There are 17.33% of students believe that school, teacher and parents’ attitude to Sunny Sports is very important to the implementation of this campaign. PE class often be replaced by other classes, the probability as high as 46.67%. And 4.67% of the students don’t satisfied with PE teachers’ teaching method. All the survey result indicate that primary school teachers in Haidong Town need enhance the ability of teaching and professional quality.4.Among 13 surveyed primary schools, 93.33% of them hold sporting and arts events, 33.33% of them hold sports contest, and organize health test according to State Students Health Standards. But still there are 10% students cannot up to standard, and a few student don’t know their score. So the teachers’ awareness to students’ health is not strong.5.In broadcast aspect, it is the PE teachers who take responsibility to advertise the campaign of Sunny Sports, meanwhile, they are also take responsibility to organize this campaign. PE teachers think that the lack of expenditure limit the implementation of Sunny Sports, so they cannot teach effectively. While students think it is the lack of sport field limit this campaign. All in all, the leader group of school should pay more attention to advertising, funds investment and facilities establishment.6.Educational administration and school leaders lack the concept of sustainable development of Sunny Sports.
