Science is ongoing. Science is continually refining and expanding our knowledge of the universe. And the knowledge built by science is always open to challenge and revision. Innovation is the development of new values through solutions that meet new requirements. General sources of innovations are different changes in human perception, and in the amount of already available scientific knowledge. We now inhabit a visual age-the age of print is passing-we are, in fact, surrounded by a virtual sea of electronically accessible print. As human beings, we are not doomed to reach conclusions and make decisions like the cows. We should determine what information is or is not pertinent; distinguish between reasonable claims and emotional ones. We learn how to identify holes in the evidence and propose additional information to collect. Creativity can lead to new scientific findings, new inventions. Creative thinking focus on exporing ideas, generating possibilities looking for more answers instead of just one. Scientific research require all the premises mentioned above.Chemistry is a subject that seek for the unkown and make progress through innovation. References play an important role in doing resaearches. Based on our previous work, we found that as an important class of heterocyclic scaffolds,2-substituted 2-imidazolines have attracted considerable attention in recent years.2-Imidazolines and their derivatives are an important class of molecules, which target numerous pharmaceutically relevant binding sites and receptors. They are widely used in the field of drugs and pharmaceuticals, natural product chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, coordination chemistry, anticorrosion and homogeneous catalysis. Significant effort has been devoted to the synthesis and applications of such compounds. This dissertation provides a summary of recently developed methods for the preparation of 2-imidazolines, and their latest developments of applications.The introduction of the thesis is a summary of five-memebered aza-heterocycle compounds and their applications. The thesis consists of two parts:In the first part, the applications and importance of 2-imidazolines and their derivatives will be classified by various areas involved. It introduces the value of reviews in education inheritance and knowledge innovation.In the second part, synthetic methods towards 2-imidazolines and their derivatives will be included starting from nitriles, esters and carnboxylic acids, aldehydes and other substrates. The dissertaion traces back and analyses the history of the synthesis of 2-imidazolines which involves innovation and wisdom in chemical synthesis.
