In recent years, the frequent disasters have posed severe threads to our lives and the social development, thus making it a common mission to prevent them for all the nations. During the “10-years international disaster reduction” world conference held in 1989, the UN suggested that education should be positioned as the most crucial method to push forward the disaster reduction. Since then, all nations have made their efforts to strengthen the public education on disaster prevention. As a country often hit by natural disasters, Japan has long been concentrating on the disaster reduction.As a result of long term practice, a sound system concerning the disaster prevention has been established which in turn promotes the development of the relation education.There is no doubt that education in disaster prevention in schools plays a key role in the whole country because of their unique advantages and the responsibilities they be to take. Japanese education in disaster prevention in schools is carried out in top-down steps with varied methods, such as classroom-teaching, practices and learning outside the classroom and etc, which can keep knowledge and practice as one, that is, it is possible for students to grasp both theories and skills in disaster prevention in schools.What’ more, with a full use of the social resources, the schools in Japan also work together with the local communities and each family to achieve the goal.In this article, the documentary, comparative and case analysis method are adopted to explain, for the thing, the goals and contents of the Japanese schools in their disaster prevention education and for another, the joint efforts among the schools,the local communities and each family. The author finally aims to summarize the valuable points to help push forward the domestics schools education in disaster prevention. This thesis is composed of five chapters.The first, introduction. The author aims to introduce the development of the topic---the disaster education, then the relating concepts and later the research strategies and goal and finally the review study.The second, education in disaster prevention in Japanese schools. The backgrounds such as the national conditions with frequent disasters and the sound reduction system are shown in the beginning. Later, the author gives a systematic analysis of the Japanese schools’ goals and contents in disaster prevention.The third, cooperation with the local communities and each family. The schoolsin Japan make full use of public resources and work together in an all-round way to achieve the goal.The forth, case analysis in of disaster prevention. The Wuzi senior high school,giving the specialized courses, sets on example for others in Japan. The author focuses on this school in order to elaborate how the disaster reduction policies have been conducted and then make it clear what Chinese can learn from.The fifth, conclusion. Based on the analysis above, the author puts more emphasis on the real situation about how Chinese carry out the disaster prevention education. In the end, some relevant suggestions are presents to help improve the present situation in China.
