Film has become a ubiquitous widely influential media, and many of the films are rooted in history, or based on specific historical events. There is no doubt that visual media is becoming the important carrier of historical information in our culture. In the process of knowing the power of the legend images, we need to combine lectures, documents, discussion and other activities, making the teaching form diversification. In this article, on the basis of the study of teaching practice cases of using Hollywood history film in American California and Wisconsin’s high school’s history class, providing some enlightenment in the research and development of the history understanding of the high school students for the history education workers of our country.In this paper, the main content of each chapter is summarized as follows: the first chapter is the introduction part, mainly elaborating the age background of this study and the education environment, pointing out the research purpose and meaning. At the same time, on the basis of the research results of experts and scholars, finding a new starting point as the breakthrough and innovation of this study. The second chapter is the theory research part. Mainly introduces Hollywood history film’s social influence and the historical education function, the overview of using Hollywood history film in the United States, as well as the history learning value and limitations of Hollywood history film. The third chapter and the fourth chapter are the part of case study. Based on the research background, research overview, research achievement and the study of the achievement, these two chapters respectively focus on the studies of teaching practice cases of us ing Hollywood history film in American California and Wisconsin’s high school’s history class. The fifth chapter is the reflection. This part mainly discusses the positive factors which we can learn from the teaching practice of the United States and what we need to place worthy of attention when we use Hollywood history film in our high school history class.We should admit that the film and television can be great history educators in our age. Serious historical movies based on historical facts, but not fully reflect the real history. But, movie can offer the content for history class, reflect the different historical perspectives, lead students into historical Empathy, connect the history and reality, make students grasp the critical spirit of history, learn to use critical history method to study history, invert the historical film and television resources into a kind of teaching resources. Of course, there are some limitations, such as historical film contains more fictional history, the narrative of history in the film are far from real history, as well as it needs to spend a lot of time in the practical application. In addition, Hollywood film has been deeply characterized with American culture and values. In the process of spreading outward, Hollywood history movie not only spread the filming technique, also spread the culture of American. That is the place where we should pay attention to while we are using Hollywood movie in our high school history class.
