Operational curriculum affect the effectiveness of teaching directly, research operational curriculum has a great significance on the promotion of teaching and the development of the students. Reading ability is a necessary condition of the individual’s lifelong learning, and primary school is the critical period to develop pupils ’ reading ability. The researches have proven that pupils ’reading ability and level can not meet the requirements of the Curriculum Standards. Taking the facts into consideration, this article takes Chinese as an example and investigates the operational curriculum of Chinese teachers in Grade three.This paper adopts case study method, taking a senior Chinese teacher and a novice Chinese teacher as cases, to explore the differences between their operational curriculums and the reasons for differences. Based on the Chinese Curriculum Criteria for Full-Time Schools of Compulsory Education, confirmed the three analysis units: grammar, reading ability and interest and habit. In order to assure the credibility, the author analyzed different kinds of data: classroom observations, interview data and documentations.The conclusions are as follows: the cases teachers don’t comprehend the demands of grammar in the curriculum standards accurately; reading ability can meet the requirements of the curriculum standards basically; the case teachers don’t pay enough attention to students’ interest and habit. This paper analyzes and discusses the reasons for the conclusions. Meanwhile gives several suggestions to improve the case teachers’ teaching.
