Students majored in physical education, as the main driving force of development of sports in the future; undertake the important task in promoting the development of sports for our country. The teaching objective for students majored in physical education is to encourage students learn continuously, whose major aim is to improve students’ self-learning ability after class.Based on this background, this article mainly adopts the literature, questionnaire, interview, mathematical statistics, logic analysis and other research methods. To acknowledge and analyze the learning situation after class of students majored in physical education in Xiangxi, 412 students majored in physical education of Jishou University and Huaihua college are randomly collected as subjects of the research. The results are as following:(1) There is an over-imbalance between classes inside and outside the classroom for students majored in physical education in Xiangxi as they mainly concentrate on learning of professional skills thus ignore learning after class, which is not conductive to the students’ all-round development.(2) They are inactive to learn outside class. For most of them, they make self-leaning outside classroom to complete tasks, or do it for examinations. From the perspective of learning professional skills, teachers’ guidance to make them change their learning motivations so as to realize the significance of learning outside of classroom are necessary, as otherwise they would learn randomly.(3) Lacking of study planning for learning outside of classroom and good learning habits make it hard for them to take learning outside of classroom seriously. Therefore, teachers should help them make some study plans for learning outside of classroom and thus develop good learning habits.(4) As they pay vary limited attention to study information outside of the classroom, and deal it without any purpose, more than 70% students think they are not good at collecting learning information outside of the classroom as they do not make a good use of the relative resources including the resources of their school library.(5) The inadequacy of proper guidance make it difficult for them to make put what they have learnt into practice and to collect information they need. 80% students need teachers’ guidance.(6) Colleges and universities in Xiangxi show vary limited attention is to study outside of the classroom for students majored in physical education.According to the results, with all factors into consideration, this paper attempts to propose some suggestions to improve the situation for students majored in physical education. As for students, firstly, they should have scientific learning motivations, so as to form good learning habits. And then they should also be more self-disciplined by making learning plans to improve their efficiency of study, lastly, they should pay much attention to the collecting and dealing of information. For teachers, they should give students’ some guidance on the method of keeping the right motivations or attitudes, and the method of learning outside of the classroom and information collecting.For colleges and universities, much attention is needed for learning outside of the classroom for students majored in physical education, a good learning atmosphere, more inputs and the like are necessary in order to facilitate students’ study outside of the classroom...
