Feasibility Study On Developing Sports Tourism In Resource - Exhausted Cities

The sustainable development issue is the most important subject in today’s society. Because of the industrial revolution and the development of science and technology, numerous resource-based cities were established. The resource-based cities promote the development process of the whole society. While just as the characteristic of resource itself, the life orbit of the resource-based cities are settled. Now the shortage of resources is a worldwide problem, which causes the decline of resources city. That is “ resource depletion and city decline ”. For the resource-exhausted cities, it’s of top priority that how to get rid of the shackles of resource depletion, how to smooth the way to economic transition, finding a new way according with the principle of sustainable development.This paper, aiming at solving the problem of the sustainable development of resource exhausted cities, based on the government’s policies as for the transformation of the resource-exhausted cities and the development of sports industry, choose Lingbao which was once famous as Gold city--the typical resource-exhausted city as the research object, based on the theory of sustainable development, circular economy and industrial structure, using the method of literature, case analysis, questionnaire survey, SWOT etc. to analyze the feasibility of the development of sports tourism in Lingbao City. Under the background of the development of sports industry in our country, as a resource-exhausted city Lingbao is of great feasibility to develop sports tourism. At the same time, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the development of sports tourism in Lingbao city.Through the analysis of the feasibility that taking sports tourism as a new dynamic resource to develop the local economy, this paper look forward to providing a new direction to realize the transformation and development of resource-exhausted cities.
