Based On A Common Web-distance Network Education Platform System Design And Realization

Distance education support platform system provides a basic running environment for distance education and the whole distance education are processed on this platform. Thus, a general and qualified web-based distance education platform system is important for the success of distance education.This paper firstly introduces the principles and concepts of Distance Education, and Then describes the main technologies of implementing a web-based distance education platform system, including LAN constructing technology, Network Database technology, method of building software development environment on Linux OS and so on. On the basis of these, a general distance education system was designed and implemented.This platform system runs on Linux OS, which provides a whole remote learning environment. It supports all kinds of teaching activities like asynchronous teaching and learning, question-answering, real-time communicating between teachers and students on-line and so on. Through this platform system, the students are able to register on-line and put homework by network. This system also provides a lot of function for teacher management, which aid teachers to manage distance education process on-line, such as publishing teaching message, check students status and so on.This platform design also take into account of the generality and extensibility of the system, new network courses can be easily added.
